To avoid contamination the Dentistry Suite is separated from the Surgical Area, but complete with surgical lighting, digital x-ray capability and monitors for anesthesia. Modern dental equipment is available for routine cleaning and polishing, as well as restoration work if necessary. As with surgical patients, dental patients receive pain medication as needed.

Periodontal disease is a process that causes the degeneration of structures that cradle the teeth in their normal position. Bacteria collects along the gum lines and eventually destroy this first line of defense for the teeth.
Treatment involves removing tartar and polishing the teeth. In some circumstances surgical trimming of excess gum tissue may be required to eliminate the pockets at the gum line which collect bacteria. A general anesthetic is usually necessary for these procedures and laboratory tests may be required to determine your pet's ability to undergo anesthesia.
A dental "vaccine" is available for dogs prone to dangerous periodontal disease. Is your dog at risk? Flip its lip! Red gums mean pain! Tartar is as bad for your pet as it is for you. Both cats and dogs get cavities but suffer in silence
